This month's features:

"Capital Sources and Valuation in Business Bankruptcies"

Entering into a process of reorganization, a business may have simple capital structures with clearly distinguishable debt and a single class of stock.  Or it may have structures that are complex and restrictive.  The order of payment priority for the investors (debt and stock) is invariably a complex question begging the need for court oversight.  To understand the importance of a valuation expert in the process of a reorganization one must understand the complexities of various capital interests in a business.  Click here for complete article)

Practice Profile:
Business Valuation Services for Liquidation or Reorganization

A liquidation or reorganization of a corporation often requires a professional business valuation.  The valuation may be needed when there is a debtor in possession, if there are secured creditor claims, or when there is a plan of reorganization.  Arxis Financial provides business valuation expertise in such situations to determine the fair market value of the business, the value of an ownership interest, and the change in value over a specified period of time.

A bankruptcy requires a knowledgeable and experienced valuation specialist.  The valuation needs to consider factors such as the affect of proposed capital structures and the impact of assumptions such as going-concern or orderly liquidation.  The specialists in Arxis Financial’s “Business Valuation” practice provide clients with a comprehensible valuation that carefully considers such critical factors in the bankruptcy context.  We also have extensive experience in presenting and defending our findings in litigation proceedings.

The Business Valuation practice is headed by partner Chris L. Hamilton, CPA, CFE, CVA, DABFA. Mr. Hamilton is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Valuation Analyst, and a Diplomate with the American Board of Forensic Accounting. He is a licensed life and disability insurance agent and a General Securities Representative. Mr. Hamilton has published articles in several publications, and has made presentations at national conferences, training institutes and seminars on topics including forensic accounting, fraud and business appraisal.
